To be born again now.

Dear siblings:
I am thrilled to know Humanity's Team has included me in their email list. I am willing to become a part of this new adventure and for the time I will contribute with some of my written essays, hoping to become more involved later on and as time goes by in deeper activism. I know we are beginning a new era, closing on the last one through actions of selfish leaders and destructive fanatism to nationalism and religion. I know these situations are falling structures that had standed much too long. The world will continue as we know it but changes will be so wide spread that many will realize matters have improved even without expecting it. These are wonderful times.
I have always believed that the fact that we are 6.5 billion human beings is no accident. We all came to remember at a fast pace, we came here to evolve. This is then right time for a change.
Please feel free to correspond with me with your opinions and input.
Namaste!
Robert
Fear is the enemy
May 29, 2008
During many years I thought that psychologists and therapists were not really needed in our world. In my own view, every challenge and defeat we go through in life must somehow be resolved one way or the other. If we have the tendency to ‘sweep them under the carpet’, they will eventually haunt us until we face them straight in the eye. That said, all human beings have to do is simply to live life with a firm step and a permanent smile in our hearts.
Lately I have heard opinions and comments from people close to me regarding how previous experiences in their lives left an almost unperceivable thorn that eventually became infected. These emotional wounds, which can be light at first, stick to people’s thoughts and feelings throughout the years, like an invisible ghost that prevents them from reaching their full potentials. I have also suffered losses in my life, like everybody has after living 5 decades or more, and even while I stuck to my guns and tried to solve them mostly with no help under the valid argument that these difficulties are what make us grow more, I do realize that I would have definitely benefited from the expert opinion of these professionals once in a while.
I am still a firm believer that trying at least to do our very best should grant us with better tools on living and dealing with losses, even while some traumas may be hard enough to prevent us from fully recovering by ourselves from any implied consequences.
During thousands of years humanity healed internally and grew in numbers mostly with the support of our families and friends. Human beings would not travel around the world on weekly basis, and most would hardly ever venture far from their villages or towns in a life time. Our times are a fascinating blend of almost miraculous technological wonders, opportunities that most of us did not even imagine as children, and the amazing gift of traveling all over the world while gazing at the beauty in each country’s traditions and people. These new doors have also brought some discomfort and uncharted solutions to our lifestyles as semi-nomad human beings, living a good part of our lives canned inside airliners or living out of a suit case in countless hotels. These have been my challenges, my joys, my life style and the source of most of my own internal wounds.
I have found that a positive attitude has helped me deal with these difficulties. I have been granted the opportunity to adopt a “poor me” attitude on many occasions which has truly led me to suffer when there was no reason for it, becoming grumpy, depressive and even seriously sick. I remember repeating to myself many times previous to an serious illness I suffered, that if I continued working in a specific job I would become sick; and I repeated this mantra so often that my body finally obeyed and granted me my fear based wish.
Curiously, it was through the illnesses I have semi-voluntarily leapt into that I know just how much power we have within us. We have the power to destroy at will. We can ruin our children’s future lives by destroying their self confidence. We can terminate marriages by dragging constantly our open wounds almost with anger at those who love us. We can terminate our jobs, lose our finances and our best friends and we can become our worse enemies if we choose to live with fear and pessimism at every chance we have.
The positive side on this important lesson is precisely the discovery that we have all this power. We can transform our rotten illnesses into vigorous health; we can revert the damage that our bodies had fallen into by voluntarily and consciously changing our personal mantras and attitudes from negative to positive; we can also enhance our children’s future by guiding them with wisdom and with a firm example of how to walk through life triumphantly. We can heal our broken marriages and friendships and we can become successful in our jobs while attracting better opportunities. Our finances will follow these paths as well.
The final conclusion to me is that our attitude shapes our lives. Our lives will be like mirrors of the self image we hold within us. We are books written by our own hand. We dwell in the perfume (or the stench) of our own choices. And yes, therapists and psychologists are needed sometimes as sources of wisdom, as human versions of wise books written by gifted human beings. But in the end and with or without their help, the responsibility for becoming fully functional and truly positive lays within each of us. External help can only do so much to try to lead us in the right direction; but it is us who will eventually have to lead our ships through safe waters and progressive seas. In a way they are a lot like religions, which try to lead us through positive paths on our road to God and self discovery, which by the way is one and the same road. Once a certain point is reached, religion serves us well as trampolines to jump higher each time on our quest for God. Remaining stuck with dogma is like choosing to remain stuck with a therapist or a psychologist; it mummifies us in time and freezes our internal growth.
Life continues to amaze me. We have so many opportunities to regenerate our past wounds and become better, gentler and stronger versions of whoever we were before. If we could only remember how powerful we are by God’s design, reflected in the same way throughout creation, our lives would be a lot easier. There are no limitations to our possibilities here or anywhere else, but our own willing acceptance of fear. On the other hand, love and joy are imbedded in our biology, our spirituality and our minds. Without the decision to accept to live in love and joy at all times, our biology fails, our spirituality becomes foggy and our minds lose their way.
What an exceptional opportunity we have to be successful in all our possible paths! We are all truly very gifted beings. We are all Children of God!
