Discover the Power Within –

The Great Discovery

Editor’s note:  this is part two from “Discover the Power Within You, A Guide to the Unexplored Depths Within” by Eric Butterworth.

This book makes an explosive suggestion for Christians and non-Christians alike; the great event was “not the birth of Jesus but a kind of awakening that took place within Him."  What was this “awakening” that is referenced and how is this relevant to you and me?  Eric Butterworth says it was the coming into awareness, connection and relationship with His Source – God/Universe.  In effect He “broke down the wall between man and God” and came into full Unity with Source thereby becoming an expression of God/Universe never before witnessed on Earth.

Thus, a new age was given birth, the age of the “Divinity of Man."  The Psalmist share “be still and know that I am God."  Jesus did precisely this; He came to know himself as a full expression of God.  When he went to the Jordan River to be with John the Baptist He declared “the kingdom of God is within you” in other words God’s love, peace, power, eternal life, indeed God’s presence, is within each person.  In His ministry, this was His message, “if you have faith in the God potential locked within man, which is yourself, as I have faith in that power within Me, then you can do all I have done and more….because I have made the great discovery."  This is the key point, the point not to be missed; the great discovery is the Divinity of Man.  Jesus shares this is Who We Really Are but it is a latent presence that can only be activated by awakening and re-membering.  Our invitation is to become consciously one with absolute Being or Source and to have no consciousness separate from this.

Butterfield says Christianity is at a crossroads, it can focus just on the person of Jesus with ceremony,  monuments, and ritual, or it can broaden its focus to include His great teaching -- the Divinity of Man -- and restore the church and its influence immeasurably, leading to world transformation, “peace on earth and goodwill toward men."  Many, including myself, enjoy fellowship with Jesus but the key is His teaching.  If the teaching is lost, we lose the fruit of His work.

Christ was not a person says Butterfield, Christ is a degree of stature that Jesus attained and that all people can attain, perhaps not in this lifetime but in a lifetime if we commit and press forward.

If we embrace this teaching, we must commit to raising our level of consciousness, and to really living it.  We must see we are each the “perfect son/daughter of God” and that we are all a limitless expression of the Divine in health and healing, wisdom, wealth and wellbeing, in loving and living.  Jesus shares this is our inheritance.  This is Who We Really Are.  Our challenge is not our potential.  Our challenge is with our self image, our identification, our commitment to living as our highest and grandest Self and to always see the highest and grandest potential in others and treat them this way.

More insights from this amazing book next week…

All my love,

Steve
