WASHINGTON, Sept. 11, 2011 -- In prayer, chant, silence and sermons on compassion, love, justice and mercy, believers of many faiths lifted their words to the one God they all proclaimed on the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
The Very Rev. Samuel Lloyd III, dean of the Washington National Cathedral, called the interwoven prayers and chants a symphony to "the hidden oneness within the human race." He said, "God yearns to see us like this."
