Healing the Apartheid in our Hearts

There are many ways to describe the work we do in Humanity’s Team.  Preparing for the Oneness Summit in South Africa, I came to a fresh perspective that I’d like to share with you.  It describes the role our heart plays in the awakening process.

The insight is that we experience the illusion of separation from God and each other in our minds and in our hearts.  Our hearts are important because our connection with God and each other is based here.  When our hearts are closed, we create an artificial world of isolation and separation.  We are not living as Who We Really Are.  Sacred Texts including the Old and New Testament, prophets, messengers, saints and sages have shared over the mellinia that "We are all One" yet only a relatively small number of people living on Earth have truly embraced this teaching.  Until we heal the "apartheid in our heart" we live in the illusion of separation.  This produces many consequences for our own life and wellbeing, and the wellbeing of the world around us.

My first remembrance of apartheid in my own heart was when I was in the first grade in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.  My father was in charge of the Peace Corp there.  I was walking to school one morning when a neighbor came out of his house angrily gesturing at me.  His dog followed him out of the house and lunged toward me to attack me.  I was badly shaken and ran home to tell my father what had happened.  My father got our dog, a German Sheppard named Guyton, and then walked back to the neighbor’s home with me.  When the neighbor came out, my father said if I was ever attacked again, he’d sick our dog, Guyton, on them.  I was horrified!  I appreciated my father’s love and support but I felt even more shaken by my father’s “eye for an eye” response.  What happened, reinforced my sense of separation.  I felt alone in an unsafe world.

I share this story because while our circumstances are different, growing up in the illusion of separation is very common.  Everyone I know, grew up this way.  This is why Humanity’s Team is devoted to awakening the world to Oneness, on an individual and collective basis, seeing that truly we are all interrelated, interconnected and interdependent with God and each other.  This is a precise description of the Universe.  It is an old truth and certainly is not a dream or fantasy.  The wonder is not that we are focused on planetary awakening.  The wonder is that we’ve been asleep to the truth of the Universe for so long.
