Healing the Apartheid in our Hearts Part II

In my last post, I promised to share how I’ve gone about healing the apartheid in my own heart [by apartheid, I mean sense of separation from God and each other]. It has been a process that began in the early 1980’s and continues to this day.
One Saturday in the early 1980’s, I received a call from my sister, Maureen. She called to tell me she would be getting married and asked me to attend her wedding. I was very “workaholic” back then so I said the unbelievable to her “I’ll see what I can do Maureen – I’ve been working most weekends so I’m not sure I can make it”. That night, I woke from a horrific, very real, dream that Maureen had died. The next morning I called Maureen. She answered the phone! I said to her “Maureen – I wouldn’t miss your wedding for anything in the world!”. I attended her wedding a few months later, had a fabulous time with her, and then received the phone call a few months later… My family called to share that Maureen had died in a car accident.
I was so moved by the miracle God had performed for me, in getting me to her wedding, that I invited God fully into my life. I became very connected to God at this point.
About ten years later I read Conversations with God book 1 and connected with God on a whole new level. This book distills wisdom from thousands of years into a short, very readable book…that God loves us unconditionally and indeed is manifested in all humanity and in all of life, co-creating with us through our thought, word and deed.. For me, the book is like the experience of Hercules who awakens to see he is the son of God. In the same way, Conversations with God book 1 awakens us to our father/mother God and our own Divinity. When we awaken, we see God in a whole new way, manifested breathtakingly in each person and all of life. We see that truly, we are all One, a cell in the body of life, Earth and the Cosmos.
At this point in my life, I let the “God out there” into my heart, and my proper eyesight and heart connection were restored. The apartheid was healed. I still see “God out there” but now I see God in here and over there, in each person and each thing. Everything is changed.
I’ve gone from seeing a world of survival of the fittest, where there is severe competition to seeing a world of Divine majesty where I co-create with God and share what is manifested with more than my own family -- with all of the world around me. I have a new identification, the world around me, so I do this very naturally.
I still have unconscious attitudes and patterns so I still lose my way. This is true for most of us on the journey home to Oneness but each day we get better and better at co-creating a more joyful, harmonious world.
All my love,
Steve
