Why We Are Here

Humanity’s Team was organized from the beginning as a movement, not as a program, activity or initiative.
Movements form in response to chronic and acute problems creating dysfunctional living. They are generally formed in response to massive problems that have far reaching consequences, touching many lives.
In the early 1900’s Mahatma Gandhi formed an Indian independence movement to free India from foreign domination, recognize civil rights for all people and create economic self sufficiency. He pioneered a process of peaceful, non-violent civil disobedience to end the oppressive and discriminatory practices that were routinely practiced in India at that time.
In the 1950’s and 1960’s Martin Luther King Jr. formed an American civil rights movement to end segregation and racial discrimination. This movement also relied on civil disobedience and other non-violent means to support equality and voting rights for people of color.
Humanity’s Team was founded in 2003 to address the suffering and inadequacy stemming from the prevailing belief that we are separate from God, from each other and from all of life, and the companion belief in an authoritarian or malevolent God/Universe. People are brought up to believe they are limited in most ways, have one life to live, are separate from God/Universe and others, and if we do believe in God, we often see God as angry and judging or even killing under certain circumstances. Many people feel challenged living out their lives and often feel little support in an unfriendly universe. Most people are asleep to their true identity and deep intrinsic value. Humanity’s Team sees the world in its current condition largely because of our beliefs about God and about life. This is why we call our movement the "Civil Rights Movement For The Soul."
We in Humanity’s Team see a healing truth in who we are -- a truth that heals ourselves, our relationships, our communities and our world. The truth is: We are All One. We are all part of One essence that some call God and others call Universe. The nature of the one essence is to be celebrated as well. Humanity’s Team believes we are all part of One sacred, divine, loving, compassionate and eternal essence that has unlimited potential. We believe there is no end to our growth potential and evolution.
This is not a new idea. Prophets, messengers, saints and sages have shared this message back to the beginning of time. It is shared in the Indian Vedas, in the Old and New Testaments, in most other sacred texts, in contemporary New Spirituality material, and increasingly as a hypothesis by quantum physicists and other scientists who say life is a unified whole with multiple dimensions, each complementing the other.
The idea overturns so many “apple carts” that it has been marginalized. This has been true in the past and it is true today. It might be called an “inconvenient truth” because to see that we are all One requires that we organize our living on our planet in a different way. No longer can we look the other way when there is war, conflict, poverty, environmental degradation and perceived suffering in many other forms.
There is good news, however. There is nothing more powerful than an idea whose time has come and the time has indeed come to see, understand, embrace and embody the idea that “We are all One.” This one idea transforms our world from what it is today into living that is healthful, joyful, and abundant and this takes place at every level of
our life -- at the level of Self, community and global living.
“We are all One” is the one idea that truly changes everything. When we see God and Self in each other, we cannot help but nurture, love and support the other. When we embrace and embody our Oneness, we naturally care for the other person, place or thing. God and Self are in all of the other so nothing is left out.
This is the invitation Humanity’s Team is extending – to embrace and embody our Oneness and to extend the invitation to others. This is why we were formed as a movement.
Within Humanity’s Team, we have set our intention to awaken the world to our
Oneness in a generation, in 20-25 years. Many of us are dedicating our lives to this objective and we intend to do this. Then, like other movements before us, we will disband when our objective is met.
If you resonate with our work, we invite you to join with us. There are many ways to participate as a volunteer, financial donor or supporter in some other way. Our homepage creates a pathway to the many forms of support that might be inviting for you.
As a final note, Humanity’s Team is not about proselytizing and we acknowledge that our way is not the only way; it is merely another way. We are very passionate about what we see to be true and we share our truth with passion. But we also see that every person is a part of God and our covenant is always to respect, honor and support the choice of each individual. All paths lead home to God/Universe. In fact, we like to precede and end our communications with the request that people go within to find their answer. The answer to all of life’s questions awaits each of us within.
With love and connection,
Steve

Followings & Movements
While one leader can create a following, a team of leaders can create a movement.
