VOLUNTEERS
I've just finished reading a stunning book that I highly recommend,
"Discover the Power Within You, A guide to the Unexplored Depths Within" by Eric Butterworth. Do you believe there are secrets to the universe revealing our true identity and potential? If you take the time to read this book, I believe you will resoundingly say "yes"! It describes how we, each of us, can live in the fullness of Who We Really Are by discovering the presence and power that lies within. The book points out that the journey "is not a conquest but a bequest". In other words, we are born with gifts and potentials that are hidden treasure. There is an entitlement available to each of us that is as big as Hercules discovery he was the son of Zeus but the gifts lay dormant until we bring awareness and focus to them. This is all that is needed, our attention and focus. The book is very powerful so I'm going to devote my coming posts to a review of this insightful, forceful book. It will change your life. This is not something I share lightly. It is true. Maya Angelou, Oprah Winfrey, and Norman Vincent Peale endorse the book. I can see why! I will review chapter one in this post.
It starts out with a startling statement, that in our search for the "holy grail" we have looked everywhere except for within our Self and when a prophet has come to tell us of the world within we've worshiped him and built monuments to him but we've largely abandoned the practice of going within. We've kept the husk but we've thrown out the nutritious food. We have many monuments to powerful religious figures but the value that they brought has largely been discarded.
Before we get into the individuation of the whole, you and me, the book acknowledges what quantum science tells us: everything is connected, permeates all space and matter, and is part of one intelligence that has unlimited potential. In other words, We Are All One.
Like Deepak Chopra's book, "The Third Jesus" this book focuses on the teachings of Jesus Christ but it is more spiritual than religious. A person of any faith tradition and even an agnostic or atheist can identify with the material. Rather than glorifying the person, it glorifies the powerful processes Jesus brought to life. It walks us through what happens when we: go within, connect, come into communion with God/Universe, put God/Universe first, and then put to work the miracle producing power that are part of a daily practice. This is not something for the elite. It is something you can do, I can do, we all will do, if not in this lifetime, then in a future lifetime. This book is about growing into Who We Really Are, not some of us, for all of us.
All my love,
Steve Farrell
Country Coordinator for Humanity's Team Travels the World for Peace
In 2006, Juanita McKenzie co-launched Humanity's Team - a group of
ordinary New Zealanders promoting a spiritual approach to peace-making through community action based on the writings of Neale Donald Walsch - author of Conversations with God. "Our principle message is that peace can be promoted by everyone and anyone. It may be as simple as changing the way we relate with our partner, our parents or our children. Or it may be as big as marching around the world to end war," says Juanita.
Juanita, a mother of five from New Zealand, joined an international team of peace-makers that began travel around the world as a core-team member of the World March for Peace and Nonviolence starting from Wellington on 2 October. The global event will pass through 90 countries in 90 days involving millions of people in marches, rallies, peace walks, festivals, exhibitions, sports events, concerts and other events calling for the elimination of nuclear weapons, the abolition of war and the prevention of violence at all levels of society from the home to the international stage.
"There is so much publicity about violence, that people become disempowered and believe that peace is not possible," says Juanita. "The idea of the march is to highlight the many wonderful programs and amazing people that are successfully resolving conflicts, preventing violence and building peaceful communities all around the world."
Juanita considers herself an ordinary mother with a passion for peace. Yet she and her family have some experience in peace and justice issues in New Zealand. Her parents were deeply involved in two major issues for New Zealand: the anti-Apartheid movement and the Keep NZ Nuclear Free campaign. "I was mainly involved in the Anti-apartheid movement and was arrested with my mother while protesting during the 1981 Springbok tour," Juanita says. "The success of those movements helped me to believe in Gandhi's message 'Be the change you wish to see in the world.'"
We, at Humanity's Team know Juanita as the Country Coordinator from New Zealand. She is filled with great passion for her work with Humanity's Team, enthusiastic, loves to laugh and a friend to all.
We are very proud of you, Juanita. Our thoughts and prayers are with you on this journey around the world for peace.
Everyone at Humanity's Team
Dear Friends,
We are launching a new program called Spirituality in Action that I am very excited to tell you about. It will offer cutting edge interviews with New Spirituality authors and speakers and will provide other resources as well to those who contribute $10 or more each month to Humanity's Team. If you'd like to deepen your connection with personal transformation resources and contribute to the global educational outreach and spiritual activism of Humanity's Team, this program is for you! I am also pleased to share this program will be headed by the immensely talented Rachel Jayne Groover. Please read her note below to learn more about this exciting new program.
Love,
Steve
Ten months ago divine guidance led me from Ashland Oregon, the home of
Neale Donald Walsch, and the Conversations with God Foundation, to Northern Colorado. Within weeks of settling here, through a series of synchronistic events, I discovered that Steve Farrell and the Humanity's Team "Headquarters" had recently moved here too. I was thrilled!
Some of you may remember me as Rachael Kennedy, the Director of Education for the Conversations with God Foundation. I had the pleasure of training many of the Humanity's Team's country coordinators and dedicated teammates through their participation in the Life Education Program (LEP).
I am excited to join the community of Humanity's Team once again. Steve and the Worldwide Support Team have asked me to be part of the process to create educational resources and interviews with well-renowned spiritual teachers that will support you in living your spirituality in every area of your life. We need to think, speak, and act in alignment with the belief that "We Are All One" if we are to create serious, positive change.
I am honored to be your host for the upcoming Spirituality in Action Program, which will cover such topics as Spirituality in Business, Living your Purpose, Financial Prosperity, Sacred Activism, Conscious Parenting, Forgiveness, Playing Your Part in Climate Change, Spiritual Intimate Partnership...just to name a few. You'll be hearing more about this soon.
I look forward to our partnership on this journey to realizing our infinite capabilities and potential.
Much love and gratitude,
Rachael Jayne Groover
Light and darkness
always present in our lives
We are awake in light
and in the absence of it
we get lost in our dreams
Day and night
Night and day
Light and darkness
Truth and lie
Tied together as one
For the light to be light
its exact opposite needs
How could we know what truth is
without the effects of a lie?
It is by feeling the sadness
that we desire our happiness
We are part of this game
of presence and absence
of what is and what is not
This is the way to experience our life
Creating our reality
Exercising our free will
Our own truth we hold tight
Blessed be the light
Blessed be the darkness
Day and night, truth and lie
By loving them both
our chains we brake
we fly like an eagle
transforming our reality
We attain Freedom!

The Day of Atonement
Written on September 27, 2009
All days are special, since we can contemplate and appreciate the wonder that we are and that we have around us. They are also special as an opportunity to get involved in that in which we believe we can share our gifts and to choose who we want to be. But today, specifically, is a special day for various spiritual cultures.
For the Jewish tradition, today is the Day of Atonement. After 10 days of withdrawing and introspection that started on Rosh Hashanah (when we symbolically celebrate the anniversary of the world's birth) until today, when we ask for forgiveness for our actions, which, consciously or unconsciously, hurt others, or hurt ourselves. In doing this mea cupla, we can be re inscribed in the Book of Life for another year.
In this sense, I ask for forgiveness to all of whom might have felt hurt by decisions I might have taken during the last year. For the responsibility to which I am bound as a leader of Humanity's Team Argentina, for not being compassionate enough with the other members of the community, for not being grateful enough with my family, my friends and fellow wanderers in this path, for not listening to them carefully enough, for the mental violence that I may have generated and for countless reasons that each of you may have for not perceiving this year as complete with regards to myself, I ask you for forgiveness.
I also ask myself for forgiveness, for being too judgmental, intolerant and way too demanding, and for not having found the way of expressing the best version of myself with love. I always tried to do the best I could, based on the elements that I thought I had on a given moment.
For Hindus, today is Vijayadasami, the day of victory of good over evil, and the culmination of the Dassara festival. For ten days, we worship Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati. Three aspects of the community that reflect action, will and discernment, which are found in all that exists, and within ourselves, since we are all One. Today, it is time to acknowledge ourselves as light, and to know that everything that happens is perfect for our evolution.
Today it's time to leave the past behind in a clean, transparent and sincere manner, being grateful for every obstacle, understanding them as blessings and as tools for transformation. Today it's time for choosing once again who I want to be, for my own sake, for the sake of those who surround me and those whom I touch. May I see the light within me and in everything, so that I can be a lighthouse and help others awaken to Oneness consciousness as well.
It is my wish that we are, today and always, the peace and the love that we want to have and in which we want to live, and in so doing, inspiring ourselves and others to reinstall heaven on earth.
Namasté,
Gabriel Avruj
