Jan Hatcher has been engaged in the field of spiritual transformation and well-being for over three decades. Author of The World of Religion and Spirituality, she has earned graduate degrees in both counseling and world religions and continues her own spiritual expansion and deepening through ongoing study, practice, and teaching.

Her current work is focused on the existential issues facing our world, and the potential for an expanded awakening to impact a more positive future for humanity. During her graduate work at Harvard University, Jan published research on the role of religious literacy in cross-cultural relationship building and collaborative problem solving. She believes strongly in the impact spiritual development has on more conscious living, all in service of a more just world at peace.

Jan has worked as a spiritual counselor, co-director of a university counseling center, corporate trainer, and Executive Director and Director of Advancement of nonprofit organizations. In her current role as a university professor of religious studies, she specializes in human spirituality and world religions. Her work spans three major disciplines. In counseling, it has been centered on healing and spiritual well-being; in academia it is focused on deepening others’ understanding of human spirituality and the world’s wisdom traditions, and in the non-profit sector it is motivated by a desire to help improve the lives of others and to facilitate a more peaceful world.

Since her early years, Jan has felt a strong connection to Spirit and solid grounding in nature, which continues to be her most powerful “worship space.” She has intuitively felt the oneness of humanity and much of her life and work focuses on the exploration of the true nature of what we call “God.” She is very interested in the current synthesis of quantum physics and the spiritual wisdom of millennia and understands at a heart level the divine unity of “God.”
