In 2009 Humanity's Team was honored to present Archbishop Desmond Tutu with our Spiritual Leadership Award. Humanity's Team Global Council traveled to South Africa for this momentous occasion. We learned from the Archbishop that His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, and he were very good friends...and at times the Archbishop confessed they were often "mischievous." It was clear they are good friends.

August ~ Night Sky Gazing

Late evening to dawn on August 11, 12 and 13, 2021, Perseids Meteor Showers

2021 is a great year for the Perseids! The waxing crescent moon will set at early evening, providing dark skies. Start watching for these meteors in early August. Their numbers will gradually increase. Predicted peak in 2021: the night of August 11-12, but try the nights before and after, too, from late night until dawn.

The Perseid meteor shower is perhaps the most beloved meteor shower of the year for the Northern Hemisphere. It’s a rich meteor shower, and it’s steady. These swift and bright meteors radiate from a point in the constellation Perseus the Hero. As with all meteor shower radiant points, you don’t need to know Perseus to watch the shower. Instead, the meteors appear in all parts of the sky. These meteors frequently leave persistent trains. Perseid meteors tend to strengthen in number as late night deepens into midnight. The shower typically produces the most meteors in the wee hours before dawn.

Transportation Safety Reminders

Walkers » Walk on the sidewalk, if one is available; when on a street with no sidewalk, walk facing the traffic. Before you cross the street, stop and look left, right and left again to see if cars are coming. Make eye contact with drivers before crossing and always cross streets at crosswalks or intersections. Stay alert and avoid distracted walking. 

Bike Riders » Teach your child the rules of the road and practice riding the bike route to school with your child. Ride on the right side of the road, with traffic, and in a single file. Come to a complete stop before crossing the street; walk bikes across the street. Stay alert and avoid distracted riding. Make sure your child always wears a properly fitted helmet and bright clothing. 

Bus Riders » Teach your children school bus safety rules and practice with them. Go to the bus stop with your child to teach them the proper way to get on and off the bus. Teach your children to stand 6 feet (or three giant steps) away from the curb. If your child must cross the street in front of the bus, teach him or her to walk on the side of the road until they are 10 feet ahead of the bus; your child and the bus driver should always be able to see each other.

We Continue to Appreciate You

Just because many countries have loosened the reigns on masks and have opened restaurants, bars and other venues to the public, it doesn't mean the virus has vanished. According to the Worldometer website (used by Johns Hopkins, The New York Times, The Business Insider, the BBC and many others) there are still numerous areas around the globe dealing with the Corona virus.
